I suppose, like everyone is quick to point out,

having options is a luxury I should appreciate.

Decisions have to be made, however,

and with the time ticking by,

choices have to be made soon.

Tendencies to try to please others

or to pick what’s the ‘nicest and politest’ option

should not cloud or taint the decision.

Ah.

Swinging between the extremes

leads one to reach for liquid courage,

or for a night on the dance-floor.

Futures are determined by this choice;

not only my future but the futures of potential

patients, community members and friends…
