I just spoke with a legend. His name is tightly linked with the explosive growth of contemporary and popular Kenyan music starting in the 90’s. Tedd Josiah is a renowned, respected producer who has been in the business for 20 years. His repertoire includes ‘Tafsiri Hii’ by Kalamashaka, ‘Uhiki’ by Hardstone and ‘Megarider’ by Nameless. Mr Josiah has worked with a wide range of artists in Kenya; Gidi Gidi Maji Maji, Necessary Noize, Jimmy Gathu, Darling P and Suzanna Owiyo. He founded the Kisima Awards. Any google search of his name leads to results showcasing his deep involvement with the entertainment industry in Kenya and around the world – a true legend. Fire’s out,

blown silent by 

a cold wind of indifference

and snuffed out by the weight

of those promises of tomorrow

that never came to fruition.

Wordless farewells that 

steam cold from the leftover ashes,

painting the sort of departure

that stains a soul and kills the flames

from the top to the bottom.
